The Techies Awards Swindon & Wiltshire are remaining open for entries until Tuesday 1st September 2020.
The 2020 Techies deadline has been extended to keep the competition alive during lockdown and give businesses pre-occupied by Covid earlier in the year the opportunity to enter. The award ceremony was originally planned for 21st May, but has been put on hold due to the pandemic.
Anita Jaynes, Director of The Business Exchange and organiser of the Techies, said ,”As with many events Covid has played havoc with our Techies Award plans for 2020. In April we took the decision to extend the awards until 8th May, playing by ear how things would pan out with lockdown. As it looks more likely that larger events won’t be possible until the end of the year, we’ve decided to keep the competition open to give businesses longer to enter. Many firms who wanted to enter may have been preoccupied a few months ago, working fast to ensure business continuity and survive through lockdown. This gives them the opportunity to get their entries in and be in with a chance of winning.
“I want to say a big thank you to everyone who’s entered so far. We’ve had some amazing entries and the competition is strong, showcasing the incredible talent we have in our area.
“By the time we do all get together for the award ceremony, we’ll definitely be in need of one big party.
“We are planning an online event in the coming weeks for all of our entrants so far. If you’ve already entered, look out for an email in your inbox.”
